Beyond boundaries of distance and genre, Rebecca's guidance extends across vocal prowess and piano proficiency, from classical art song genres to CCM and the intricate realms of jazz. Read on for what real students are saying about working with Rebecca.
I have been Mrs Rebecca’s student for 6+ years and i’ve always enjoyed every second of my lessons with her. She is by far the best piano teacher I’ve had. I used to struggle with a lot of skills, some being sight reading and rhythm because I was frustrated with the metronome. But Mrs Rebecca was very patient and took the time to teach me how to listen to the metronome and built me up from there. My skills in sight reading, theory, dictation, rhythm, and all of the above have improved so much. Not only does she want you to improve as a pianist, but she also puts in the effort to get to know you as a student! I couldn’t have asked for a better piano teacher.
I have a background in choir and band (from over 30 years ago) and have been a vocalist in a gigging band for the past three years. I have been working with Rebecca for just a couple of months, and the results have been remarkable. We began by getting to know my voice, focusing on technique and identifying where my vocal register shifts occur. Within only a few weeks, other vocalists were commenting on the improvement in my voice: more clarity, better resonance, and greater stamina.
Our work has since expanded beyond vocal technique and into musicianship. I now have a stronger understanding of terminology and sheet music notation. Vocalists are often stereotyped as lacking musical knowledge, but singers shouldn't overlook musicianship! Thanks to Rebecca, I'm now able to take a more active role in shaping songs to showcase my voice, rather than just singing what is handed to me. Communication with my band has improved tremendously, and our rehearsals are more productive now that we're speaking the same language. Rebecca is not only a skilled teacher but also a supportive coach who knows how to bring out the best in her students. I'm truly grateful for the progress I've made under her guidance.
I am thrilled to share my experience working with Rebecca, who has transformed my vocal abilities. From the very first lesson, it was evident that Rebecca possesses an exceptional understanding of focal technique and a deep passion for music. Under her guidance, I have gained confidence in my singing and learned to appreciate the nuances of voice control, breathing, and pitch. Rebecca has a unique ability to identify individual strengths and areas for improvement, providing personalized exercises that have significantly enhanced my vocal range and quality. I found Rebecca to be patient and encouraging. If you are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable voice instructor who can bring out the best in you, I recommend her wholeheartedly. Her passion for teaching and commitment to her students’ success are unparalleled.
I wanted a piano teacher who could expand my knowledge and enjoyment beyond my classical music training. Rebecca’s background, approach, and encouragement delivered a perfect combination, enhancing my jazz learning experience.
When I first came to Rebecca as a vocal student, I was sidelined from all my instruments with a nerve injury that prevented me from laboring with my hands. Although this was a physically difficult period for me, Rebecca’s instruction helped continue to expand my musical brain and creative perspective. Through the months I worked with her I have seen tremendous technical improvement with my voice, and I am equally grateful for her ever positive attitude in her instruction. She has helped me grow into a more confident and open musician, and I have cherished being able to study with her.
I learned how to play classical music on piano as a young girl, but I gave it up and decided I don’t have time for it. Years later, when I decided to get back to playing piano, I wanted a change so I gravitated toward learning how to play jazz/modern jazz, because I love listening to jazz music. Playing it was completely foreign to me and very intimidating. I am so glad I found Rebecca Windham. She is exceptionally knowledgeable, very patient, structured, and adapted the lessons to my specific musical interests. As an older piano student, I initially felt self-conscious, but Rebecca created a warm, encouraging environment where I didn’t feel foolish for making mistakes. Her clear instruction built a strong foundation that will alway guide me, and has made playing a joyful experience. She listened to me playing, picked up my weaknesses and showed me how to correct those points by practicing in a smart way. Thank you Rebecca for being such a great teacher!
Lessons with the exuberant, positive, and incredibly knowledgeable Rebecca Windham made an impact within the first few weeks of my working with her. I found that I had more control over my voice at the microphone singing with my band and better breath awareness and support. Additionally, Rebecca encouraged me to get a medical baseline of my laryngeal functioning, where I discovered the early onset of some potential voice issues. She works within my sphere of health and tailors her lessons to scaffold the work I have been doing with a speech-language pathologist as I resolve my medical concerns. She is a gem and I feel very lucky to be working with her.
Working with Rebecca has been an amazing experience to say the least. Starting this journey, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a teacher on the internet, hundreds of miles away. But she came on the laptop friendly and eager to help and get to know me. I’ve always had trouble breaking down my wall and opening up to new people, but Rebecca makes it super easy. She’s so kind and fun but can be stern when the moment calls for it. She is constantly encouraging and motivating me to go above and beyond. She is, in my opinion, one of the best vocal coaches that I have ever had the opportunity to work with. I highly recommend her to anyone who’s looking to get back into or just starting out in vocal training.
It’s been a while since I’ve done anything vocally and I was really nervous to get myself back out there again. With vigorous research, trying to find a coach willing to work with me and my hectic schedule, I found Rebecca. She’s helped me gain my confidence back as well as helping me understand how my instrument truly worked. Within such a short period of time I could already hear the difference in my voice and the clarity in my sound. Especially my head voice which I was super self conscious about. Rebecca has always been beyond patient and so willing to work with me as an online student despite our time differences. She pushes me farther than my mind would allow me to go and has so much faith in my abilities as a student. Her confidence in me makes me want to work even harder to achieve my goals! I am so thankful to have her as my teacher and I always look forward to my time with her.
